Australia has an excellent international reputation in education and training. Private and government schools exist for primary (year 1 to 6) and secondary schools (year 7 to 12). Private and government funded institutions exist for vocational and training colleges, higher education institutions, and universities.

The system is broadly divided into 5 areas:

  • Preschool
  • Primary School
  • Secondary (High) School
  • Vocational Training
  • Higher Education

The Australian Qualification Framework ensures that there is a degree of uniformity between courses at the vocational level, as a pathway towards university or higher education institution degrees. There are 43 universities in Australia including 3 private universities and 1 international university..

In addition to these universities, some private institutions which are not called universities are also offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. All these institutions are accredited and closely monitored by the government, which ensures that quality is maintained to the highest level.

The study pattern in Australia involves attending lectures, tutorials in smaller groups, research in the library, group discussions, studio or laboratory work, and seminars.
